David was utterly fantastic in the Edinburgh store. He fit us on the day of our event! He was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process. Highly recommend A1 kilt for rental needs.

Wish i could score minus. Awful service, illegal price hikes & ill fitting gear. One guy seemed more interested in hiding & looking at scraps of paper than speaking to or attending customers. Just a basic hello would help. First visit, told £25 for long jacket & waistcoat then would throw in the shoes for a fiver. Fab, we think. Second visit, just my partner, lost 30mins at just reserving the shoes as the guy served other people midway thro him & had zero communication skills. Day of ball, we both attend & i ask if he can take a jacket set aswell as the shoes afterall. Guy takes an inordinate amount of time, but measures him, then puts partner in a jacket where his arms can't go down & blames it on a paperthin pullover. A larger is finally given, with no words said to us. We agree & the bill has gone up 50% with this new chap. Previous chap was there & rudely asserts the price can't be changed because he made a mistake...misleading advertising is defined in law. We decline & are handed a clipboard & pen. This is for the shoes. But nothing is said till we ask what we are to do with this!?! Furious. I leave. But partner soon returns to get the jacket 2.5 hours before the ball, as we've no choice but to pay extra, have we? The jacket is too big, boxy & fits only at the arms, despite being "fully measured". There is no waistcoat. The whole experience has been a joke. These are big events people are going to. Wise up on tarnishing them please! Lovely wee shop, so long as you don't use it.

We visited the store on 10 June 2023 without making an appointment because my husband thought he’d just have a quick look at their selection of kilts. Martina, who was on her break at the time, set aside her lunch without a second thought and offered us her assistance. We felt really bad about it but Martina insisted on showing us some of the kilts before the next group of customers, who had already booked an appointment with her, showed up. She went out of her way to squeeze my husband in for a fitting right after that just so we didn’t have to visit the store again on another day. She also showed my husband how to put on each and every item; from the kilt itself, right down to the right way of tying the shoe laces. My husband had worn the kilt for our wedding photoshoot in Switzerland and needless to say, he caught a lot of attention when we were on the train, streets, etc. 😂 A1 is the cheapest place to hire a kilt I believe. Great service, reasonable price, I mean, need I say more? 10/10 would recommend this company to anyone looking to rent a kilt. P.S. Thank you, Martina, for such an amazing service. We’re truly blessed to have met you.
